A good user experience is critical for online retailers.  Better usability dramatically increases a site’s conversion rates and revenues and offers a strong competitive advantage as shoppers naturally migrate to easier to use sites.

This comprehensive one-day course covers the usability and user experience best practices used by the most successful online retailers to improve the retail customer journey with clear propositions, intuitive navigation, persuasive product pages and a clear and trustworthy checkout process. We will use examples from small and large retailers worldwide which you can apply to your own e-commerce platform.

Your business will benefit from improved conversion rates and customer satisfaction, leading to more repeat visitors and a more successful online business.

The course follows the key stages of the shopper’s journey, from home page to the checkout. At each stage the interface and interaction design must persuasively meet customer expectations, and this course will demonstrate how.

What will I learn?

Attendees will learn best-practice user experience design principles applied by today’s most successful e-commerce businesses. Drawing on examples from leading online retailers in the UK and North America we will cover all stages in the shopping journey including:

  • Home page and landing pages – creating a good first impression from the outset
  • Product and promotion pages – how to persuasively present your products and answer the questions your customers want to know
  • Navigation, search and selection – helping customers explore, filter and compare to find the best products for them
  • Shopping basket – design and interaction principles for clear shopping baskets
  • Checkout designprinciples of usable online form design to reduce abandoned shopping carts.

The course is highly interactive with hands on workshops, including a demonstration of eye tracking for analysing and improving e-commerce store designs.
